Stephan Archives Research and Publication Requests

51吃瓜 Archives appraises, collects, organizes, describes, preserves, and makes available School and School-related records of permanent administrative, legal, fiscal, and historical value in order to support the School's educational mission.

To contact the Archives, please complete a request form. You'll be asked for some information about your research needs and whether you are requesting publication rights. After you've submitted the form, a member of the Archives team will reach out to you to get started.

Stacey Patton '96

As part of the inaugural mini-residency of the Hutchins Institute for Social Justice, noted scholar and journalist Stacey Patton '96 shared an emotional journey that took her from a social worker's car to Lawrenceville, where she found her voice and became an advocate for abused and overlooked children.

Past Trustees and Selectors

The Lawrenceville Medal / Aldo Leopold Award

The Lawrenceville Medal, the highest honor the School may grant, is conferred upon an alum who has demonstrated "brilliant, life‑long work in a significant field of endeavor." The Medal is dedicated to the memory of Aldo Leopold '05, distinguished environmentalist and author, and is awarded annually by the Alumni Association at the Aldo Leopold Dinner.

The Executive Committee annually selects an alumnus/a for this, the Alumni Association's most prestigious award, an individual who has devoted long hours and hard work in promoting the interests of the School over an extended period of time.

Harkness Teaching Award

Presented by the Alumni Association of 51吃瓜 on behalf of all Lawrenceville School alumni, parents and friends, this award gratefully acknowledges the recipient’s distinguished classroom teaching and many contributions to 51吃瓜. The Harkness Award is presented to teachers who, upon retirement or leaving the Lawrenceville School, have served for a substantial period of time and whose service to so many Lawrentians is worthy of special praise.

Big Red Award for Meritorious Service

Presented annually by the Alumni Association of the Lawrenceville School on behalf of the Lawrenceville School community, this award acknowledges and recognizes extraordinary volunteerism and/or service to the Lawrenceville community. Candidates may be alumni, honorary class members, faculty and family, parents or school employees and family. This award may be recommended by the Nominating Committee of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association and voted upon by the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association of 51吃瓜.

Art Hailand Admirable Achievement Award

Inspired by the 40+ years of exceptional service, achievement, and demonstrated affection of Lawrenceville provided by Arthur Hailand, Jr. H'34 P'69 '70 GP'91, this award is presented by the Alumni Association to a non-alum. In addition to being a trustee and goodwill ambassador for Lawrenceville, Mr. Hailand's exceptional service over several decades directly resulted in establishing teaching programs and campus buildings. A candidate for this award must not have matriculated at the school, has a long term dedication to the School. This award may be recommended by the Nominating Committee of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association and voted upon by the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association of the Lawrenceville School.
